CM honours Asian Junior Badminton Champion Lakshay Sen & Kuhu Garg

The children of Uttarakhand grow up in the lap of nature and are made strong by nature. They also have the sprit to do best in all the fields. The success of Lakshya Sen and Kuhu Garg is a victory of youth. Our youth are showing in promise in every sports,” Spoke CM of Uttarakhand on the occasion of felicitating the two champions who have won laurels for the State     

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat honoured Asian Junior Badminton champion Lakshay Sen by presenting him with a cheque of Rs.5.53 lakh at a felicitation function held at Janta Milan hall of Chief Ministers’ residence. 

Chief Minister also congratulated the parents of Kuhu Garg and her coach for her success. Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat presented them with a cheque worth Rs. Two lakh on the occasion, for Kuhu winning the Lagos International Badminton Championship. Since Kuhu Garg is in Russia, the cheque was received by her parents, Alaknanda Ashok and ADG Ashok Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat said that, “sports play an important role in our all round and multi-functional development. Our’s is a small state and Lakshya Sen with his talent has brought glory to the state. We should focus on some games and make efforts to bring in good coaches as it will provide better opportunities to youth in sports.”

Chief Minister added that sports teaches us to be self- centred without the feeling of pride and arrogance with an aim to win. He hoped that Lakshya Sen will continue to achieve his goals and make a name for himself.     

ADG Ashok Kumar who is President of the Uttaranchal Badminton Association said that, “Lakshya Sen has won the Asian Junior Badminton Championship for the country after a gap of 53 years.  Earlier in 1965 Gautam Thakur had won the championship.” He informed that Lakshya Sen has also been selected for Youth Olympics.  He said that Chief Minister himself is a badminton player and presented a badminton racquet to him.

Lakshya Sen said that his efforts would be to bring glory to his country and state. He also thanked the Chief Minister for honoring him.

Munna Singh Chauhan and Manoj Rawat, both legislators, Secretary Sports Bhupinder Kaur Aulkah, Vice-President,Uttaranchal Badminton Association Sanjay Gunjial, IG and Secretary D.S. Mankoti, parents of Lakshya Sen and his coach along with other eminent guests were present on the occasion.
