Dateline Doiwala – An orientation program titled ‘Deeksharambh’ was organized at Himalayan College of Nursing (HCN), Jollygrant for newly admitted students. The event saw participation from 270 nursing students along with their parents. Through the theme ‘Life ka Compass’, students were guided on how to stay committed to patient care and service without deviating from their core values, even in challenging circumstances.
The orientation was held on Tuesday at the Adi-kailash Auditorium of Swami Rama Himalayan University (SRHU). The Chief Guest, Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, President of SRHU, stated that the institution was founded with the vision of Dr. Swami Rama, whose primary aim was to serve the people of Uttarakhand and neighboring regions. The establishment of the nursing college was also driven by this mission. He encouraged students to take steps toward a life of purpose and dedication.
The program began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp in front of a portrait of the Founder, Dr. Swami Rama. Vice Chancellor Dr. Rajendra Dobhal emphasized that success requires hard work, and urged the students not to be afraid of it. He added that the university is committed to the overall development of its students. Dr. Vijendra Chauhan, Director General of Academic Development, shared the prestigious history and achievements of the university and the nursing college. Pro. Vice Chancellor Dr. Ashok Devrari highlighted the significance of nursing in the healthcare sector, especially in today’s context.
Dr. Sanchita Pugazhendi, Principal of the College of Nursing, informed that the orientation included 250 students in BSc Nursing, 10 in Post Basic BSc Nursing, and 10 in MSc Nursing. Vice Principal Dr. Kamali Prakash welcomed the new students and their parents warmly. Also present on the occasion were Registrar Commander (Retd.) Challa Venkateswar, Dr. Renu Dhasmana, Dr. Prakash Keshviah and other esteemed faculty members.
